"I am honoured to be a privileged contributor to our nation’s quest for sustained economic prosperity. In my new capacity as Minister of Foreign Trade, I assure my fellow citizens that I will fulfil my duties and responsibilities with the same vigour and passion for excellence. It is also my mission to inspire all Emiratis, especially women, to be more productive members of the society and contribute meaningfully to the long-term progress of our country."

In its overall frame, the UAE foreign trade policy is derived from the philosophy of economic openness to the world and positive interaction with trade partners. It is based on the principles of parity and mutual interests. Thanks to this philosophy, the UAE has mounted to a position of regional leader and an eminent pioneer in the proven economic openness, which has earned a universal recognition. Moreover, UAE has set an outstanding example-to-follow of economic and trade policy that has overcome the restrictions of its natural and material resources. In a record time, UAE has reinforced its commercial and economic ties with the sisterly Arab Countries through the Arab Free Trade Zone Agreement and a number of bilaterally signed trade agreements with some Arab Countries.

We have also met all the requirements of winning the membership of the World Trade Organization; we are also conducting trade negotiations with several partners in GCC Region. In its pursuit to provide an attractive environment for investment, UAE has taken successful steps of ratifying several agreements to promote and protect investment and avoid double-taxation with a number of Arab and foreign countries.

In addition, UAE is a signatory to a set of economic and commercial cooperation agreements with many countries all over the world. Based on those agreements, we have set the legal frames of economic and commercial cooperation. The Ministry is linked with its world commercial partners by the oversea trade liaison offices which serve and maintain the country’s commercial relations with regional and global organizations in order to maintain and promote our competitiveness in the global market.

All these efforts are ensured to open wide the horizon in front of the UAE exports of goods and services, attract Arab and foreign investments and catalyze our national economic growth. On our part we, in the Ministry, work closely with our local and federal partners such as the Ministry of Foreign affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of economy, the Federal Customs Authority, the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology, in addition to local Departments of Economy and Chambers of Commerce and other similar trade promotion organizations. This cooperation is intended to maximize the commercial and business opportunities, devise a system of international commercial relations, as well ensure a remarkable commercial and economic standing for our country.
